Database Driven Websites

Databases have been and are the workhorses behind all major Websites. The benefit of using databases to drive Websites has is rapidly moving into smaller sites as well. Pages can be dynamically displayed or stored for periodic site wide updating. Frequently a combination of the two are employed.

The DaySite.Net Website is a combination of static and dynamically generated pages. All pages are stored in a database. As page content, links or Website appearance change, the entire site is updated at once. Most of the pages are static. However the page that appears when you check for the availability of a domain name changes depending on the record that is being investigated.

A databases driven Website makes it possible for one person to manage a very large Website will little effort. Alternatively when a site requires the collaboration of many people working from various lactations, a database driven Website is just the thing to bring it all together.

In its simplest form, content is saved to the database and merged with template HTML coding to form a Webpage. This is fine when pages are relatively static, or rarely change.

When data continually changes, as with bank accounts, or inventories, then a more dynamic means are required to drive the Website. To accomplish this programming merges data with templates to generate pages that only exists momentarily.
