The Body of the Document

The primary content fo a page goes betweeb the <Body> </body> tags. This is the part of the document where you will put all of the text and multimedia elements you want to see in the browser window.

Inside the opening <body> tag, attributes may be added that will change the background of the document, like <BODY BGCOLOR='white'> and <BODY BACKGROUND='/images/nicebackground.jpg'>.

<BODY BGCOLOR> is set by putting in the RGB values for a color in their hexadecimal for to get a specific color for your background.

Example:
<BODY BGCOLOR='#ffffff'> produces a white background.

The same results can be produced by using the English language name of a color.

Example:
<BODY BGCOLOR='white'> also produces a white background.

The first example above provides far more flexibility to choosing colors for any element of you page. The second example, know as 'Pre Defined Colors' is simply easier to remember. There are some 130 Pre Defined Colors.

For examples of hexadecimal colors see The Color Specifier for Netscape.

The <BODY BACKGROUND> tag will allow you to put an image into the background of your document.

To do this type:
<BODY BACKGROUND='filename.gif'>

Be careful not to let your backgrounds overwhelm or detract from the content of your page. Once you have established the canvas, it's time to add information. One of the first bits of info to include is a Header. There are several kinds of Headers available...

Now let's take a look at Headers
