To use PHP on the DaySite servers, simply add your PHP code to your pages and change your Web page extension to:

.phtml

or

.php3

Why Use PHP

Ever since Web designers found out about the [FORM] tag, the Internet has seen an explosion in the number of Websites that depend heavily on user response and interactivity. For a long time, the primary language used to develop such Websites was Perl. But ask any novice programmer, and he'll tell you that learning Perl isn't exactly a bed of roses...

PHP offers Web designers a number of convenient features. One of these features is the ability to insert your PHP code directly into the HTML of your code. Then by simply changing the extension of your page name (On DaySite servers the extension is either '.phtml', or 'php3') and uploading to the server, your new PHP enabled page starts working.

PHP is also easy to use. It is a lightweight scripting language that can be learned with relative ease. It is powerful enough to serve the needs of most entry to intermediate programmers. In its present form, PHP would be hard pressed to compete with programming languages like Perl, C, or C++. However, the PHP learning curve is not as steep.
