When you are starting out, 'KEEP IT SIMPLE'! Yes the last word of that phrase has been omitted. But for Website promotion purposes, this really applies. Anything on the page that detracts from a clear intent or focus would be unwise.

The same goes for all pages on the Website, but is especially improtant for your 'index.htm' page. Since most search engines pay particular attention to the index page, it must be especially clear.

Focus On Your Keyword!

So how do you deliver a focused message to a search engine spider? That is easy, just put your keyword in prominent places around your Website. You want in in your Title, Description, Keywords, Links, Headings, Paragraphs etc. You want to Italisise it, Bold it, Underline it, but most importantly do not overuse keywrods.

Your page can be layed out any way our like, however since you have to emphasize your keyword, this usually leaves you with little alternative but to keep it short. Not too short, and not too long, just enough to give your viewers and the search engine enough information to determin what your page and Website are all about.
