Web Page Title Tags

The title tag is the single most important tag needed to attain top search engine placement. Your page has a guaranteed reservation in abyss of search engine listings unless your primary keywords are found in this tag.

The most important concept to follow when designing your title is to FOCUS on your primary keywords. You also need to making sure that other unimportant words are not included.

Title Example

Let’s say you run a flower shop in Orlando, Florida, and you specialize in weddings. The first thing is to ask yourself just what are your viewers going to enter into a search engine when searching for someone to handle their wedding flower arrangements. Well obviously ‘flowers’, but if they enter just that word, they are going to get ‘flower growers’, ‘flower wholesalers’, and ‘flower retailers’ located in every corner of the world. Our viewers are sharp, and right away pick up on this, and further define their search to include the word ‘wedding’. Now they find a long list of flower shops that handle weddings. But they are finding that these shops are located all around the world. So the search gets further defined to include the word ‘Orlando’. Now our viewers are entering the phrase ‘flowers weddings orlando’ into a search engine, and they are starting to get find the kind of thing they are looking for.

Note: Not so surprising, but the above search also turns up a shop in Miami, the title reads ‘Wedding Flowers by Orlando Diaz’. :)

Ok, we are starting to get a grip on the point here, our title must have our primary keywords in it. A title for our example shop might be
[title]Wedding Flowers Orlando[/title], or
[title]Orlando Wedding Flowers[/title].
AND KEEP IT SHORT ! ! !

What Not To Include in a Title

Unimportant words dilute the focus of your Website. Flower shops create flower arrangements. However if we use ‘create’ or ‘creations, or ‘arrangements’, or any word that the viewer is NOT likely to use, then our title tags gets diluted and gets ranked further down the list.
